Process for the manufacture of novel dioxaheterocyclic compounds Abstract The invention relates to processes for the manufacture of novel dioxaheterocyclic compounds of the general formula I Image in which Rl represents an unsubstituted or substituted aromatic or heteroaromatic radical or an unsubstituted or lower alkylated, mono- or bi-cyclic cycloaliphatic hydro- carbon radical or an a-branched aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, each of R2 and R3, independently of the other, represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, and each of R4 and R5, independently of the other, represents hydrogen, lower alkyl or halogen, and A represents the radical -O-R6, wherein R6 represents hydrogen or an unsubstituted or sub stituted aliphatic or araliphatic hydrocarbon radical or A represents the radical -N Image in which each of R7 and R8, independently of the other, represents hydrogen or lower alkyl, or, R7 and R8 are bonded to one another and, together with the adjacent nitrogen atom, represent unsubstituted or lower alkyl-substituted tetra- to hexamethyleneimino or 4-morpholinyl, and the divalent radical in formula I is either in the 4,5- or the 5,6-position and correspondingly R4 and R5 are in positions 6 and 7, or 4 and 7, respectively, of the benzodioxole skeleton, of salts of compounds of the general formula I in which A represents OR6 wherein R6 represents hydrogen, with bases, as well as of acid addi- tion salts of compounds of the general formula I in which the radical Rl is of basic character. These novel substan- ces have a diuretic activity and, in addition, a uricosuric activity, and can be used, preferably in the form of corresponding pharmaceutical compositions, for the treatment of oedema and hypertension.
