Abstract of the Disclosure 2-Oxo-2,3-dihydro-benzo[b]thiophen compounds of the formula Image (I) in which Ph is a substituted or unsubstituted 1,2-pheny- lene radical, X is oxygen or sulfur, R1 is a substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl radical bonded via a carbon atom and R2 is hydrogen, and their salts with bases have peripheral analgesic properties. They can be prepared by methods known per se and can be used as the active ingredient in pharmaceutical preparations.
