A process for the production of a shaped article of a consumable product in which a composition is extruded through a die comprising at least one orifice characterized in that the cross- sectional area for flow through the said at least on orifice is varied in a continuous fashion during at least part of the time said extrusion is occurring, whereby an extrudate is obtained whose cross-sectional area varies along at least a part of its length. Apparatus suitable for carrying out the process are also described.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un article façonné constitué d'un produit consommable, dans lequel une composition est extrudée à travers une filière comprenant au moins un orifice, et caractérisée en ce que la surface de la section transversale de ces orifices varie de façon continue durant au moins une partie du temps d'extrusion, ce qui permet d'obtenir un objet extrudé dont la section transversale varie sur au moins une partie de la longueur de l'objet. L'invention concerne également un dispositif s'utilisant dans la mise en oeuvre dudit procédé.
