A process for catalytic partial oxidation of a hydrocarbon is pro vided. The process includes: providing a feed gas mixture comprising an oxygen-containing gas and a hydrocarbon gas comprising one or more normal (C2-C4)alkanes; providing a catalyst structure having a transparency of at least about 40 %; and passing the feed gas mixture through the catalyst structure at a rate such that the superficial contact time of the feed gas mixture with the catalyst structure is no greater than about 1000 microseconds to produce an exit gas mixture comprising partial oxidation products.
Cette invention concerne un processus permettant d'effectuer l'oxydation catalytique partielle d'un hydrocarbure, lequel processus comprend les étapes suivantes: préparer un mélange gazeux d'alimentation qui comprend un gaz contenant de l'oxygène, ainsi qu'un gaz d'hydrocarbure contenant un ou plusieurs alcanes normaux (C¿2?-C¿4?); préparer une structure de catalyseur possédant une transparence d'environ 40 % au moins; et enfin, faire passer le mélange gazeux d'alimentation à travers la structure du catalyseur à une vitesse telle que la durée de contact superficiel entre le mélange gazeux d'alimentation et la structure du catalyseur n'excède pas environ 1000 microsecondes, ceci de manière à produite un mélange gazeux de sortie comprenant des produits partiellement oxydés.
