BP CASE NO. 5896(B147) ABSTRACT OF THE DISLCOSURE PROCESS FOR THE POLYMERISATION OR COPOLYMERISATION OF ALPHA-OLEFINS IN A FLUIDISED BED, IN THE PRESENCE OF A ZIEGLER-NATTA CATALYSTS SYSTEM. The present invention relates to a process for the polymerisation or copolymerisation in a fluidised bed of alpha-olefins comprising 2 to 8 carbon atoms, by means of a Ziegler-Natta type catalyst system, consisting of a catalyst (a) comprising atoms of magnesium, halogen and a transition metal and a cocatalyst (b) consisting of an organo-metallic, which process is characterised in that the catalyst system is first of all either fixed on an inorganic granular support, or converted into a prepolymer, then subjected to a treatment by means of a polymerisation inhibiting agent, before being brought into contact with the alpha-olefins under polymerisation or copolymerisation conditions in a fluidised bed, in the presence of an additional quantity of co-catalyst (c) consisting of an organo-metallic compound which is identical to or different from that of which co-catalyst (b) consists.
