ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Polyoxymethylene is prepared by polymerizing formaldehyde in a reaction medium comprising an organic diluent non- solvent for the polyoxymethylene, a chain transfer agent and a catalyst consisting of a polylactone car- rying a terminal ionic couple on its macromolecular chain, said catalyst being used in an amount of from 0.001 to 10% by weight with respect to the feed in formaldehyde.
