A B S T R A C T A process for the preparation of 2-[2-((5-dimethyl- aminomethyl)furan-2-ylmethylthio)ethylamino]-5-(6-methylpyrid-3- ylmethyl)pyrimid-4-one which comprises the reaction of 2-[2- (furan-2-ylmethylthio)ethylamino]-5-(6-methylpyrid-3-ylmethyl)- pyrimid-4-one dlhydrochloride with an organic solution of bis(dimethylamino)methane at a pH of about 1.3 to about 2Ø The product is a useful H2-antagonist.
