A method for synthesizing 1,1-bis(chlorophenyl)2,2,2-trichloroethanol (dicofol) from chloral and chlorobenzene, wherein the acid by-products generated during the condensation of the chloral and the chlorobenzene are used as a reaction medium in the final stage of the dicofol synthesizing process.
