Disclosed is a process for preparing 2,2- difluorobenzo[1.3]dioxolecarbaldehyde compound of the formula: Image (I) (wherein X is F or Cl and n is 1 to 3) by chlorinating a methylbenzo[1.3]dioxole compound of the formula: Image ; fluorinating the resulting dichloromethyl-2,2-dichlorobenzo- [1.3]dioxole compound with HF; and reacting the resulting dichloromethyl-2-2,difluorobenzo[1.3]dioxole compound with a carboxylic acid. The desired compound is useful as intermediate for patent protection agents and pharmaceutically active agents.
