PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF 3-CARBOXY-1.4- DIMETHYLPYRROL-2-ACETIC ACID ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION There is described a process for the preparation of 3-carboxy-1,4-dimethylpyrrol-2-acetic acid of formula (I): Image characterized in that a carboxylic compound selected from the group consisting of acetone-bicarboxylic acid and its alkaline salts is made to react in an aqueous medium with methylamine and a halo-acetone at substantially room temperature. The product represents an intermediate for organical syntheses. In particular it is intended for the preparation of 5-aryloyl-pyrrol-alkanoic acids, known antiinflammatory agents in the pharmaceutical field.
