Process for the preparation of lactulose from lactose wherein an aqueous solution or suspension of lactose is reacted with sodium aluminate in order to produce the isomerization of lactose to lactulose and the mixture thus obtained is neutralised by treatment with gaseous CO2 under pressure, obtaining a suspension of aluminum hydroxide which can be easily separated from the lactulose solution.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de préparation de lactulose à partir de lactose dans lequel on fait réagir une solution aqueuse ou une suspension de lactose avec de l'aluminate de sodium de façon à produire l'isomérisation du lactose en lactulose. On neutralise le mélange ainsi obtenu par traitement avec du CO2 gazeux sous pression, obtenant de ce fait une suspension d'hydroxyde d'aluminium qui peut être facilement séparée de la solution de lactulose.
