Process to prepare a lubricant having a dynamic viscosity at -35 ~C of below 5000 cP by performing the following steps: a) contacting a feed containing more than 50 wt% wax in the presence of hydrogen with a catalyst comprising a Group VIII metal component supported on a refractory oxide carrier, and b) contacting the effluent of step (a) with a catalyst composition comprising a noble Group VIII metal, a binder and zeolite crystallites of the MTW type to obtain a product having a lower pour point than the effluent of step (b) and having a viscosity index greater than 120, and (c) adding a pour point depressant additive to the base oil as obtained in step (b).

L'invention a trait à un procédé destiné à préparer un lubrifiant présentant une viscosité dynamique inférieure à 5000 cP à -35 ·C. Ledit procédé consiste : (a) à mettre, en présence d'hydrogène, une charge contenant plus de 50 % poids de cire en contact avec un catalyseur renfermant un composant métallique du groupe VIII supporté sur un support d'oxyde réfractaire ; (b) à mettre l'effluent obtenu à l'étape (a) en contact avec une composition catalytique contenant un métal noble du groupe VIII, un liant et des cristallites de zéolithes du type MTW, afin d'obtenir un produit présentant un point d'écoulement inférieur à celui de l'effluent de l'étape (b) et présentant un indice de viscosité supérieur à 120 ; et (c) à ajouter un améliorant de point d'écoulement à l'huile de base obtenue à l'étape (b).
