A process for the preparation of a polyolefin by polymerization of at least one olefin, the said process comprising contacting the at least one olefin with a catalytic system comprising a metallocene and a cocatalyst, wherein the metallocene is selected from the group consisting of rac-2,2-dimethylpropyli- dene(1-?5-cyclopentadienyl)(1-?5-fluorenyl)dichlorometallocene of titanium, zirconium, hafnium and vanadium. Syndiotactic polypropylene having a melting temperature Tm from 95 to 160 °C, a syndiotactic pentad fraction [rrrr] from 0,91 to 0,96, a crystalline fraction fC from 25 to 50 % and a viscosity-average molecular weight Mv from 60,000 to 200,000.
