ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Aqueous ammonium thiocyanate solutions are produced continuously by reacting ammonia and carbon disulfide in the presence of water, using activated charcoal as the catalyst, at pressures of between 2 and 7 bars, this makes it possible to obtain a very pure product, the method is highly economical since both the addition of the ammonia to carbon disulfide, and the decomposition of the resulting ammonium dithiocarbamate may be carried out in a reactor, under the same conditions, in one stage.
