PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF BENZOXAZOLYL-AND BENZTHIAZOLYL-OXYPHENOXYPROPIONIC ACID DERIVATIVES Abstract of The Disclosure Process for the preparation of benzoxazolyl-, benzimidazolyl-, and benzthiazolyl-oxyphenoxypropionic acid esters which comprises reacting a phenolic compound of the formula Image with a 2-chloropropionic acid ester in the presence of catalytic amounts of a metal iodide, a 2-iodopropionic acid ester or mixtures thereof; wherein R is halogen or CF3; n is a number from 0 to 3; X is -O-, -S- or =NR2; and R2 is alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. These compounds are known valuable herbicides.
