Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to the oxidation of vincristine or leurosine or acid addition salts of vincristine or leurosine by means of chromic acid or alkali metal dichromates under specified conditions. Oxidation of vinblastine or its acid addition salts yields N-desmethyl-vinblastine and vincristine and also a new compound designated "RGH-4451", Oxidation of leurosine or its acid addition salts yields N-desmethyl leurosine, N- desmethyl-N-formyl leurosine and a new compound designated "RGH-4478" These oxidation products display anti-tumor properties or are readily convertible to compounds displaying anti-tumor properties.
