ABSTRACT Blown film on the basis of low-density polyethylene is prepared by extruding the molten polymer at melt temperatures at the die gap of below 135 °C. Films that have been prepared this way have special orientation as a result of which good mechanical and optical properties are present. Oriented films are determined by X-ray diffraction analysis and have an intensity ratio of the 110 reflection band Image at least 20, and an angle a between the average orientation direction of the polymer molecules and the film extrusion direction of at most 20°.
