Process for the preparation of C1-C4-alkyl nitrites A b s t r a c t C1-C4-Alkyl nitrites can be prepared by reaction of C2-C4- alkanols with nitrogen oxides without the participation of oxygen in a reactor designed as a scrubber column, the nitrogen oxide used in the lower part of the reactor being dinitrogen trioxide, namely a) as such, b) as a mixture with nitrogen monoxide or c) as a mixture of its precursors nitrogen monoxide/nitrogen dioxide or nitrogen monoxide/dinitrogen tetroxide. 5 to 60% of the total amount of C1-C4-alkanol used is likewise used in the lower part of the reactor in vaporous or atomized form, while the remaining C1-C4-alkanol is delivered to the column head.
