ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A process for the preparation of materials and molded articles based on boron carbide/transition metal boride consisting of intimately contacting finely particulate boron carbide with boron and transition metal carbides, and hot pressing the powder obtained to produce molded articles. Also disclosed are molded articles of powder metallurgical compounds having a content of 66 - 85 volume percent of boron carbide and, 34 - 15 volume percent of transition metal boride.
