ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Concentrated aqueous suspensions which contain organic solids which are sparingly soluble in water and have particle sizes of 1 to 500 µ can be prepared when a melt of an organic solid, which is only sparingly soluble in water, and an acid, which is the basis of an anionic emulsifier, and, optionally, formulation auxiliaries is introduced, whilst stirring vigorously and if necessary whilst preventing the access of air, into an aqueous phase which contains 0.5 to 1.5 equivalents - based on the acid component of the anionic emulsifier - of a base and, optionally, formulation auxiliaries and, optionally, one or more additional water-soluble components and has a temperature below the solidification point of the melt.
