ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Concentrated aqueous suspensions which contain pesticidal active compounds which are only sparingly soluble in water and have a small average particle size and a particle size distribution which is suitable for stable suspensions can be prepared when a melt of a pest- icidal active compound, which is only sparingly soluble in water, and an acid, which is the basis of an anionic emulsifier, and, optionally, formulation auxiliaries is introduced, whilst stirring vigorously and preventing the access of air, into an aqueous phase which contains 0.5 to 1.5 equivalents - based on the acid component of the anionic emul- sifier - of a base and, optionally, one or more water-soluble pesticidal active compounds and, optionally, formulation auxiliaries and has a temperature below the solidification point of the melt.
