The invention provides a process for the preparation of an N-alkyl-acylamino- phenyl-carboxylic acid or carboxylic acid derivative by liquid phase acylation and subsequent N-alkylation of a corresponding amino-phenyl-carboxylic acid (or carboxylic acid derivative), the improvement comprising the addition of an alkylating agent to a solution containing the reaction products of said acylation, to effect said N-alkylation.

Procédé de préparation d'un acide N-alkyl-acylamino-phényl-carboxylique ou d'un dérivé d'acide carboxylique par acylation en phase liquide suivie par N-alkylation d'un acide amino-phényle-carboxylique correspondant (ou d'un dérivé d'acide carboxylique). L'amélioration apportée par le procédé de cette invention consiste à ajouter un agent d'alkylation dans une solution contenant les produits de réaction de ladite acylation pour effectuer ladite N-alkylation.
