Conformément à ce procédé, on prépare dans un premier temps un prépolymère à partir du (ou des) diacide(s) court(s) et d'hexaméthylène- diamine en excès en présence d'un catalyseur consistant soit dans un oxyacide minéral ou organique fort, soit dans un sel alcalin ou alcalino-terreux dérivé de cet acide ; puis dans un deuxième temps on fait réagir le prépolymère obtenu avec le dimère d'acide gras. Ces copolyamides ont des appliations diverses dans les industries des matières plastiques ou du textile.
