A B S T R A C T PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF CYCLOPROPANE COMPOUNDS A process for the preparation of a high trans compound (as herein defined) of the general formula and/or (III) Image Image or an alkali metal salt thereof,in which each Hal indepen- denly, represenes a chlorine or bromine atom, which compri- ses reacting a compount of the general formula Image (IV) or an alkall metal salt thereof, in which each Hal indepen- dently represents a chlorine or bromine atom, with an alkall metal hydroxide, the reactlon taking place in solutlon or suspension in an organic liquid phase havlng a dielectric constant of less than 10. The resulting compound is a useful intermediate in the synthesis of certain pyre- throld insecticides.
