Process for the preparation of dimethyl ether product by catalytic conversion of synthesis gas to dimethyl ether comprising contacting a stream of synthesis gas comprising carbon dioxide with one or more catalysts active in the formation of methanol and the dehydration of methanol to dimethyl ether to form a product mixture comprising the components dimethyl ether, methanol, carbon dioxide and un-converted synthesis gas, washing the product mixture com-prising carbon dioxide and unconverted synthesis gas in a scrubbing zone with a liquid solvent being rich in potas-sium carbonate or amine and thereby selectively absorbing carbon dioxide in the liquid solvent, subjecting the thus treated product mixture to a distillation step to separate methanol and water from dimethyl ether and unconverted syn-thesis gas stream with a reduced content of carbon dioxide and separating the unconverted synthesis gas from the di-methyl ether product.

Procédé de préparation d'éther diméthylique par conversion catalytique de gaz de synthèse en éther diméthylique comprenant : mise en contact d'un circuit de gaz de synthèse contenant du dioxyde de carbone avec un ou plusieurs catalyseurs permettant la formation de méthanol et la déshydratation du méthanol en éther diméthylique pour former un mélange d'éther diméthylique, de méthanol, de dioxyde de carbone et de gaz de synthèse non converti; lavage de ce mélange comportant du dioxyde de carbone et du gaz de synthèse non converti dans une zone de lavage avec un solvant liquide riche en carbonate de potassium ou en amine, absorbant ainsi de manière sélective le dioxyde de carbone; soumission du produit traité ainsi obtenu à une étape de distillation afin de séparer le méthanol et l'eau de l'éther diméthylique et du gaz de synthèse non converti ayant une teneur en dioxyde de carbone réduite; séparation du gaz de synthèse non converti de l'éther diméthylique.
