A process is described for the preparation of ethylene-butene-1 copolymers having density values of about 0.880 to about 0.914 g/ml, for the copolymerization of ethylene and butene-1, at a high pressure and at a high temperature, in a reactor vessel or tubular reactor, in the presence of a catalyst consisting of an aluminium trialkyl and a solid catalyst component containing 0.4 to 4.0 wt% titanium on a microspheroidal magnesium chloride support, in which the titan- ium is present partially in the trivalent and partially in the tetra- valent form. The copolymers thus obtained are used for the production of film, stamped products and mixing with other polymers.
