A B S T R A C T A process for the preparation of Fischer-Tropsch catalysts, co taining 30-75 pbw iron and 5-40 pbw magnesium per 100 pbw alumina by impregnating an alumina carrier with one or more aqueous solutions of salts of iron and of magnesium, followed by drying the composite, calcining it at a temperature of from 700 to 1200°C and reducing it.
