A b s t r a c t In the process for the preparation of heterocyclic phenyl ethers of the formula I Image (I) in which R denotes identical or different radicals from the group comprising, halogen, CF3, NO2, CN, alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio, A denotes O, S or N-alkyl, and n denotes 0 to 3, a compound of the formula II Image (II) in which Hal represents halogen, or a compound of the formula IV Image (IV) is reacted with a compound of the formula III Image (III) in the presence of an acid. The heterocyclic phenyl ethers (I) are useful precursors for producing biocides, particularly, herbicides.
