L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'acides hydroxyarylglycoxyliques à partir d'acides hydroxy- arylglycoliques par oxydation catalytique en milieu aqueux alcalin, à pH supérieur ou égal à 11,5 pr l'oxygène ou par gaz en contenant, caractérise en ce qu'il est effectué en phase homogène à une température inférieure ou égale à 30°C et en présence d'ions cuivriques et qu'en fin de réaction l'acide cherché est isolé du milieu réactionnel par acidifi- cation à pH environ 0,5. On obtient le para-hydroxyphénylglyoxylate de sodium lorsqu'en fin de réaction on arrête l'acidification à pH = 5.
