ABSTRACT PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF LIQUID HYDROCARBONS Process for the preparation of liquid hydrocarbons (e.g. middle distillates) by contacting an olefinic hydrocarbons- containing feed (e.g. ethene and/or propene) at elevated temperature and pressure with a catalyst comprising at least one n-valent metal (X) selected from the group consisting of metals from Groups 1b, 2a, 2b, 4b, 5b, 6b, 7b, and 8 (e.g. nickel) of the Periodic Table of the Elements on a mordenite-type of trivalent metal (Y) silicate as carrier in which catalyst the molar ratio X:Y greater than n-1. The invention further relates to a catalytically active composition suitable for use in said process.
