PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention concerne la fabrication des dialkyldisulfures du type R-SS-R où R désigne un radical alkyle contenant de 1 à 3 atomes de carbone, par oxydation de l'alkylmercaptan R-SH correspondant par le soufre en présence d'un catalyseur. On utilise comme catalyseur une combinaison d'un alkylmercaptan R'-SH avec un oxyde d'alcène et une base alcaline, R' désignant un radical alkyle contenant de 6 à 18 atomes de carbone. Ce catalyseur permet d'obtenir un dialkyldisulfure inférieur d'excellente qualité (absence d'amine et de coloration).
