Co-production of hydrogen and methanol by steam reforming a hydrocarbon feedstock, condensing and separating steam from the reformed gas, synthesising methanol from the resultant de-watered reformed gas without further compression, separating synthesised methanol and separating hydrogen from the residual gas, optionally after subjecting the residual gas to the shift reaction.

L'invention concerne la coproduction d'hydrogène et de méthanol, par un procédé de reforming à la vapeur d'une charge d'alimentation d'hydrocarbures. Ce procédé consiste tout d'abord à condenser et à séparer la vapeur du gaz reformé, puis à synthétiser le méthanol du gaz reformé déshydraté ainsi obtenu sans soumettre ce méthanol à une compression ultérieure, et enfin à séparer le méthanol synthétisé et à séparer l'hydrogène du gaz résiduel, éventuellement après avoir soumis ce dernier à une conversion à la vapeur d'eau.
