ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Organotin compounds of the formula (R)2SnX2, wherein R represents the group Image is useful as a stabilizer for polymers, particularly polyvinyl chloride. In the above formulae, R1, R2, R3 and R4 each repre- sents hydrogen or a hydrocarbon group, at least one of R1 and R2 being an oxygen-containing group with a carbonyl group adjacent to HC-, X represents an organic residue selected from the group -S(CH2)nCOO alkyl and -S(CH2)OCO alkyl, in which n is 1 or 2, -S alkyl, -OCO alkyl and -OCOCH=CHCOO alkyl, and Hal represents a halogen.
