Abstract of the Disclosure Phloroglucinol is prepared by chlorinating benzenetricarboxylic acid-(1,3,5)-triamide in an aqueous, inorganic acid medium to form benzene- tricarboxylic acid-(1,2,5)-tri-N- chloramide, which is a new compound; the latter is converted by treatment with ammonia into 1,3,5-triureido-benzene, which is hydrolyzed in inorganic acid solution to phloroglucinol.
