PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF POLYFUNCTIONAL ISOCYANATES FROM POLYMERIC N-HALOGEN AMIDES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the preparation of polyfunctional isocyanate derivatives of the homo- or inter-polymers of acrylamide or methacrylamide, wherein a suitable N-chloramide derivative of the homo- or inter-polymer of the acrylamide or methacrylamide is reacted with a tertiary amine having a pKa value above 7 in the presence of an inert solvent.
