Abstract of the disclosure: Process for the preparation of pure cyclic phosphoric acid diaryl esters To prepare pure cyclic phosphoric acid diaryl esters from POHal3 and a bis-phenol derivative or a dihydroxy- dinaphthyl derivative, POHal3 is employed in a stoichio- metric excess of 0 to 500 mol% and the reaction is carried out in the presence of a catalyst at temperatures from 50 to 180°C over a period of 1 to 24 hours. After the reaction, excess POHal3 is removed and the reaction mixture is diluted with 0.1 to 10 g of glacial acetic acid per g. The reaction mixture diluted with glacial acetic acid is hydrolyzed with 1 to 4 moles of water, calculated on the number of moles of POHal3 reacted, and the cyclic phosphoric acid diaryl esters deposited in the form of crystals are filtered off.
