ABSTRACT In a process for the preparation of re-inforced vul- canisates by vulcanisation of compositions comprising natural rubber or synthetic diene rubber in the presence of a novolak resin and as a hardener a reactive melamine resin obtained by reaction of melamine with 0.5 to 6 mols of aldehyde in an amount of between 0.5 and 120 % by weight, referred to the novolak resin, the improvement that instead of or together with the reactive melamine resins other aminoplast forming compounds containing hydroxy groups are used and the total amount of the aminoplast forming compound is also in the range from 0.5 to 120 % by weight, referred to novolak resin and a rubber article and vehicle tire prepared according to said process.
