The invention relates to a process for the preparation of (S)-glyceraldehyde acetonide in aqueous solution from 3,4-O-~isopropylidene-L-threonic acid or a salt thereof in aqueous solution, and hypochlorite in aqueous solution wherein the aqueous hypochlorite solution has a pH > 7.5 and wherein during addition of at least 0.1 molar equivalents of hypochlorite based on the amount of 3,4-O- isopropylidene-~L-threonic acid, an acid solution is not simultaneously added. The invention also relates to a process according to the invention, wherein 3,4-O-isopropylidene-L-threonic acid or a salt thereof is prepared from 5,6-O- isopropylidene-L-ascorbic acid or a salt thereof in the presence of H2O2 and a base in a manner known per se, wherein excess H2O2 is optionally removed by catalase. The invention also relates to a process according to the invention, wherein 5,6-O-isopropylidene-L-ascorbic acid or a salt thereof is prepared by reacting L-ascorbic acid or a salt thereof with an acetonide forming agent, preferably in the presence of an acid catalyst.

La présente invention concerne un procédé pour préparer du (S)-glycéraldéhyde acétonide en solution aqueuse, à partir d'acide 3,4-O-isopropylidène-L-thréonique ou d'un sel de celui-ci en solution aqueuse, et d'hypochlorite en solution aqueuse, la solution aqueuse d'hypochlorite ayant un pH > 7,5, une solution acide n'étant pas ajoutée au cours de l'adjonction d'au moins 0,1 équivalent molaire d'hypochlorite basé sur la quantité d'acide 3,4-O-isopropylidène-L-thréonique. L'invention a également pour objet un procédé selon lequel de l'acide 3,4-O-isopropylidène-L-thréonique ou un sel de celui-ci, est préparé à partir d'acide 5,6-O-isopropylidène-L-ascorbique ou d'un sel de celui-ci, en la présence de H¿2?O¿2? et d'une base, d'une manière connue, l'excès de H¿2?O¿2? étant éventuellement éliminé par une catalase. L'invention concerne aussi un procédé selon lequel de l'acide 5,6-O-isopropylidène-L-ascorbique ou un sel de celui-ci, est préparé par réaction d'acide L-ascorbique ou d'un sel de celui-ci, avec un agent de formation d'acétonide, de préférence en la présence d'un catalyseur acide.
