PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation de nitrure de silicium par carbonitruration de silice, caractérisé en ce qu'il consiste à: former un mélange réactif primaire à partir de carbone et de silice; englober ce mélange réactif primaire dans une matrice poreuse à base de carbone; soumettre le produit obtenu aux conditions de carbonitruration et recueillir Si3N4; et le cas échéant éliminer le carbone excédentaire. Ce procédé permet notamment d'obtenir Si3N4 sous forme de particules de forme régulière et contrôlée, exemptes de whiskers. L'invention concerne également du Si3N4 sous forme de particules de forme régulière et contrôlée, totalement exemptes de whiskers.
