ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This is a process for the preparation of sterile culture media in unit dosages in which cer- tain of the ingredients are increased prior to irra- diation of the unit dosages so that the irradiated specimen gives culture results comparable to con- ventionally sterilized media. This process permits the preparation of the culture medium dispensed in specially designed containers and manufactured and packaged under non-sterile conditions. These pack- aged medium may then be sterilized using a one-step sterilization. Some of the ingredients are increased in quantity so that the irradiated medium of equi- valent quality to the conventional media, is ob- tained. Furthermore, we have found that increasing the pH factor of the medium prior to irradiation results in a pH of desirable level after irradiation once again producing a sterile medium of equivalent quality to conventional media.
