ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Succinonitrile of good purity and in high yields is prepared by reacting acrylonitrile with hydrocyanic acid in the presence of at least 2 % by weight of triethanolamine catalyst using an excess of acrylonitrile at a temperature below 90 °C., typically in the range of 60-80 °C.
