PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de thiophène par déshydrogénation catalytique du tétrahydro- thiophène. Dans ce procédé, on utilise le sulfure de ruthénium ou un mélange de sulfures de ruthénium et d'un ou plusieurs autres métaux de transition comme catalyseur massique ou supporté. Il a été trouvé que le sulfure de ruthénium est beaucoup plus actif et très sélectif dans la déshydrogénation du THT. En outre, il a été trouvé que l'utilisation d'un catalyseur à base de sulfure de ruthénium permet d'effectuer la déshydrogénation à des températures relativement basses et de stabiliser l'activité du catalyseur sur une plus longue période.
