Process for the preparation of TiC14 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved process for the preparation of TiC14 com- prising a) chlorinating a raw material containing titanium and vanadium impurities to produce a crude TiC14 reaction product, b) separating the crude reaction product into solid by-products and TiC14-containing liquid, c) reacting the TiC14-containing liquid with a reducing agent whereby vanadium impurities are converted into solid compounds, and d) separating TiC14 from the solid vanadium compounds, is improved by adding solid products of the vanadium re- duction reactions to the crude TiC14 reaction product prior to the separating step b).
