A B S T R A C T .beta.,.gamma.-Unsaturated alkenyloxyphenols are prepared by a process which comprises reacting a .beta.,.gamma.-unsaturated alkenyl halide, for example methallyl chloride, with a dihydric phenol, for example pyrocatechol, in two separate zones at different temperatures. The products are useful as intermediates for the preparation of inter alia perfumes, aromas and insecticides.
