The invention relates to a lithium and vanadium oxide. The oxide corresponds to formula Li1+.alpha. V3O8 (0,1<=.alpha.<=0,25) and is made up of agglomerates of small needles whose length L is 400 - 1000 nm, whose width is such that 10<L/ <100 and whose thickness e is such that 10<L/e<100. It is obtained by a method consisting in preparing a precursor gel by bringing V2O5- a and a Li precursor into contact with each other, the amounts of which being selected in such a way that the ratio of concentrations [V2O5]/[Li] ranges from 1.15 to 1.5, and in subjecting the gel to thermal treatment consisting of a first stage at 80 °C - 150 °C during 3 hours - 15 days, and a second stage between 250 °C and 350 °C, during 4 mins to 1 hour, in a nitrogen or argon atmosphere. Applications: positive-electrode active matter.
L'invention concerne un oxyde de lithium et de vanadium. L'oxyde répond à la formule Li1+.alpha. V3O8 (0,1<=.alpha.<=0,25) et il est constitué par des agglomérats de petites aiguilles ayant une longueur L de 400 à 1000 nm, une largeur telle que 10<L/ <100 et une épaisseur e telle que 10<L/e<100. Il est obtenu par un procédé consistant à préparer un gel précurseur par mise en contact de V2O5- .alpha. et d'un précurseur de Li, en quantités telles que le rapport des concentrations [V2O5]/[Li] soit compris entre 1,15 et 1,5, et à soumettre le gel à un traitement thermique comprenant une 1ère étape à 80~C - 150~C pendant 3h à 15 jours, et une 2ème étape entre 250~C et 350~C, pendant 4 min à 1 heure, sous atmosphère d'azote ou d'argon. Applications : matière active d'électrode positive.
