ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process is disclosed for the production of 2,4, 5,6- tetraaminopyrimidine sulfate from 2,4,6-triamino-5- phenylazopyrimidine. The 2,4,6-triamino-5-phenylazopyrimi- dine, suspended in water, is hydrogenated in the presence of a catalyst containing palladium on carbon. The hydro- genation is carried out at 0 to 60 bar, preferably at 0 to 10 bar. The reaction temperature is 50° to 180°C., prefer- ably 80° to 120°C. Also, the reaction time is 1 to 3 hours. The reaction product is precipitated by the addition of sul- furic acid.
