A process for the production of 2-(hydrocarbyldithio)- 5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazoles 2-(hydrocarbyldithio)-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazoles are obtained by reacting bis-(2,5-dithio-1,3,4-thiadiazole with a tert.-hydrocarbyl mercaptan of which the hydro- carbyl moiety contains from 4 to 60 carbon atoms.
