A process for controlling the emission of gaseous by-products in the preparation of a Vilsmeier reagent, and its use as a chlorinating reagent in the production of high intensity sweeteners, such as trichlorogalactosucrose, from partially protected sugars. The process comprises reacting a sulfur containing inorganic acid, such as thionyl chloride or sulfuryl chloride with a tertiary amide in the presence of an inert solid powder or reverse addition of the reagents; the produced Vilsmeier reagent can be used in-situ or in an isolated form.
La préparation d'agent de chloration ou la réaction de chloration elle-même destiné(e) à être utilisé(e) dans la production de trichlorogalactosucrose (TGS) édulcorant de haute intensité à partir de saccharose partiellement protégé comprenant la réaction de dimethylformamide (DMF) avec du chlorure de thionyle ou un autre soufre contenant des chlorures d'acides inorganiques comprenant le chlorure de sulfuryle est rendue problématique par la libération abondante de sous-produits gazeux, qui parfois peuvent également provoquer une explosion. Ce problème est résolu par l'ajout selon l'invention de poudre solide inerte aux constituants du mélange réactionnel de chloration, ou par l'ajout de DMF à la solution de chlorure acide dans cet ordre. L'invention concerne également l'utilisation de réactif de Vilsmeier solide isolé pour la chloration dans un solvant autre que DMF permettant d'éviter totalement des problèmes découlant de l'utilisation de DMF qui comprennent la perte irrémédiable de conditions acides, d'interférence dans la cristallisation de TGS et analogues.
