ABSTRACT 1. A process for the production of a non-chip coating. 2.1. Non-chip protective coatings have hitherto been pro- duced on the basis of solvent-containing primers. The new process is intended to be ecologically safe through the use of aqueous systems. 2.2. A process for the production of a non-chip coating by application of a non-chip protective layer based on 30 to 60% by weight carboxyl containing polyesters or (meth)acrylates and copolymers thereof with vinyl com- pounds having an average acid value of 30 to 100 mg KOH/g and an average OH value of 50 to 250 mg KOH/g, neutralized with nitrogen bases, 5 to 25% by weight of a water-soluble or water-dispersible, blocked isocyan- ate prepolymer, 15 to 30% by weight water and 10 to 50% by weight pigments, fillers and/or auxiliaries and additives, wet-in-wet overcoating with an aqueous filler, common stoving and painting with a finishing paint. 2.3. The use of aqueous materials for the production of non-chip coatings.
