Abstract A pharmaceutical agent is described which has an antineoplastic effect and a protective effect on bone marrow by stimulating leucocyte proliferation and which can abolish the detrimental effects of cytostatic therapy on cancer patients and of radiotherapy. Such a pharmaceutical agent contains at least one or several metabolic products which can be obtained from E. coli cultures as a bacteria-free and protein-free filtrate. In a particularly preferred embodiment such a pharmaceutical agent in addition contains an extract from Ginkgo biloba leaves. The pharmaceutical agent contains the active substances as a combined preparation optionally with a cytostatic agent for simultaneous, separate or stepwise administration, as a kit.
